The number of American
adults
who are worshiping the sun and getting burnt is on the increase.
From 1999 to 2004 the proportion
has increased from 31.8%to 33.7%. This may seem small
until you look at the fact that skin
cancer is the most common of
all cancers, accounting for half
of all cancers. An estimated one
million cases of nonmelanoma
skin cancers are diagnosed annually
in the United States.
Melanoma, on the other hand,
causes most skin cancer deaths.
The American Cancer Society
estimates there will be 59,940new cases of melanoma in the
United States this year, and
about 8,110 people will die of the disease.

What is melanoma?
A
malignant
that originates in the
cell which produce the pigment
that colors our skin,
hair and eyes. The majority
of melanomas are black or
brown however some melanomas
are skin colored,
pink, red, purple, blue or
white.
Who is at risk for melanoma?
Everyone is at some
risk but increased risk depends
on several factors:
sun exposure, number of
moles on the skin, skin type
and family history.
So, this summer hydrate
your body and skin. Limit
your sun exposure and treat
your skin to a natural lotion
that will protect and moisturize
your skin.
